JOB TITLE: Accredited Culinary School Intern


POSITION NUMBER: On-Going


Pay Rate: $12.11 per hour

EDUCATION:

[ ] High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

[ ] Currently enrolled in a Culinary Arts Program (please submit verification of enrollment with application)



SKILLS:
[ ] Must posses an exemplary attitude, demonstrate the desire to learn, and display team attitude.
[ ] Knowledge of basic culinary/bakery skills.
[ ] Knowledge and ability to maintain accepted sanitation standards.
[ ] Basic reading and math skills.
[ ] Ability to follow specific verbal and written instructions and standard operating procedures.
[ ] Must possess and maintain a professional, neat, clean, and well groomed appearance.
[ ] Knowledge and ability to maintain healthy and efficient work habits.
[ ] Must be able to consistently promote positive guest and team member relations.
[ ] Must have the ability to remain calm and professional at all times.
[ ] Must be motivated, hard working, and detail oriented.
[ ] Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.


EXPERIENCE:

[ ] No experience required.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

[ ] Must be 18 years of age or older. *(Please submit documentation with application)

[ ] Must obtain and hold a Food Handler’s card within 60 days from date of hire.

[ ] Must be flexible to work all venues in a similar position.

[ ] Must attend mandatory guest service training.

[ ] Will be responsible for the deliverance of the highest level of customer service to guests, VIP's, and co-workers.

[ ] Must be flexible to work both Casino sites, the Tulalip Resort Casino and the Quil Ceda Creek Casino.

[ ] Must be able to successfully complete either a tribal, state, or federal background investigation.

[ ] Must be able to obtain a Hotel Permit per Regulation 12 with the Tulalip Gaming Agency.

[ ] Must be able to work any shift assigned to include days, swing, grave, weekends, and/or holidays.

[ ] Must have a successful employment history with the Tulalip Tribes and/or other employers.



Physical Characteristics and/or Prerequisites:

[ ] Manual and finger dexterity for the preparing food and the operation of kitchen equipment.
[ ] Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
[ ] Tolerance to be exposed to hot grills, stoves, and ovens.
[ ] Ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds occasionally.
[ ] Tolerance to be exposed to cleaning solvents and detergents on a daily basis.
[ ] Tolerance to work in a smoke filled environment.

Casino Department: Food & Beverage

Employee Classification: Non-exempt

Job Summary: Through training and guidance, gains real world experience in preparation for a career in the field of Culinary Arts. All assignments shall be in accordance to the Culinary Arts School Curriculum for successful completion of Externship requirements.

Employee Reports To: Executive Chef or designee



Specific Duties Performed:

1.Performs assignments determined by the Culinary Arts School Externship Requirements and Executive Chef or designee.

2.Maintains and operates all kitchen equipment safely and properly, in accordance with standard operating procedures.

3.Properly breaks down, cleans, and re-assembles all equipment and utensils after each use.

4.Ensures proper storage of product.

5.Follows “Clean as you work” and accident prevention policies at all times.

6.Follows all Food & Beverage standard operating procedures and attends all meetings and training required.

7.Understands and executes Standard Operating Procedures.

8.Performs all other duties deemed necessary or requested by the Executive Chef or designee to ensure a valuable learning experience.


Terms of Employment: This is a Temporary Full-time position requiring up to 40 hours per week for the duration of the Internship hours required by Culinary School for successful completion of degree or certificate.
